In the modern era your digital presence has never been more important! Acquiring eyeballs and converting them into consumers can be won or lost with the wrong content direction.
When a lot of people think of content they think pretty photos of products, but is this really captivating? Is this what the consumer is really looking for? Well the answer unfortunately is no! Whilst showcasing your product is important what consumers are being driven away from is being sold to! So the next question is how do we showcase our product in a meaningful and captivating light through the medium of photography.
Tell stories! The art of photography is all about telling stories within a singular frame! The modern consumer is filled with FOMO and tailored imagery is how we ignite that FOMO! Images of groups of people smiling and sitting around a table enjoying a brunch or friends cheersing drinks at a bar, these types of images in comparison to just a stand alone product shot, a cocktail on a bar or a coffee on a table showcase more than just the product but sell the experience and story.

Get involved! It’s been shown time and time again that people love to see people! An example of this is an image of a stand alone coffee vs. an image of a person smiling taking a sip of said coffee. Yes, taking an image of a stand alone coffee is simple and easy, but when we are talking captivating content image 2 will provide greater interaction. The goal is always to look at what you are trying to promote then trying to integrate people or action into the image. Below are some more examples to help!
Image 1 | Image 2 |
A Drill | A Tradie drilling into a beam on site |
A Coffee Machine | A barista with a big smile making coffees |
A Cocktail Shaker | A bartender shaking a cocktail and pouring a drink |
See how quick and simply you can turn a boring and stale image into something that tells a story and is much more captivating!
Work on quality over quantity! Creating high engaging content is a challenging process and creating it in high volume takes time and understanding! My best advice is to take it month by month, work out how many times a week you want to be posting photos and then note down what your core focuses are. From there it’s simple to utilise the focus point and decide how you’re going to tell that story, work image by image and ensure everything you post is captivating and engaging!
Stop selling and start telling stories, the sales will come naturally with captivating content!
